Château du Clos de Vougeot : Situated in the charming village of Clos Vougeot, the castle is famous for its Clos, plots producing some of the finest wines in Burgundy: Grands crus and Premier cru.
It was originally a vineyard but it does not produce wine any more.
It was built in the twelfth century by Cistercian monks from the “Abbaye de Citeaux”. They built the winery with 4 imposing wine presses and a huge cellar.
The Clos de Vougeot Castle has been listed as an historical monument since 1949 and is open to the public 7 days a week.
